Abstract
The study on vegetative propagation of Scots pine was started in the Chair of Silviculture - Academy of Agriculture in Poznan in 1959 with the investigation on grafting. There was found a high effectiveness of the grafting method called "on cambium" - performed during the beginning of the stock spring growth. It was started, that the grafts keep in they growth a shape of mother trees and do not grow slower than the trees of generative origin. The investigation on rooting of Scots pine shoots showed a strong correaltin between the rooting and the age of mother plant, as well as the necessity of application of stimulators containing synthetic growth regulators. Investigation on seeds spacing in the production of planting stock in the generative way showed higher usefulness of the spacing in squares with the 4.9 and 5.6 cm sides than the row- and strip-spacing. Seedlings of European beech rised unter the plastic foil appeared to be to woarse planting stock than seedlings rised without shelter. The production of planting stock under the foil requires a clear specification of its goals and the adaptation of silvicultural procedure to them.
