In Sachsen-Anhalt, the situation of forest labor and forest technology is marked by the extremely high number of forest laborers, the resulting high wage-cost factor in proportion to the total expenditures and a comparatively high financial burden of the budget due to the cost of repairs and downtimes in the technical sector, which does not permit the implementation of modern timber-processing and sophisticated harvesting methods. Considerable efforts have been made to reduce the wage-cost factor, but as of yet, these endeavors have not improved the situation to any great extent.
