The Status of Frost Hardiness Research in North American Forestry

A brief review is provided describing a number of advances in frost hardiness research in forestry. The review is far from exhaustive, but highlights some of the more important achievements, such as making frost hardiness an established physiological parameter in the evaluaton of tree seedling quality. The review is intended to stimulate discussion and give direction to future research, such a membrane studies, the elucidation of the relationship between frost hardiness and dormancy and root hardiness studies.
