Abstract
The best results are obtained with the PP 60 hydraulic pruning-scissors compared with those obtained with the K 12 chain saw and the hand-saw. The criteria compared relate to the output expressed in man/hour, to the pruned height, to the number of injuries, to the quality of the cut and the maintenance of tools. Of course, the efficiency of the PP 60 (9.30 trees/man/hour) is higher than that of a hand-saw (6.08 trees/man/hour) but is similar to that of the K 12 though the quality of work with the PP 60 is much better than that with the K 12 and the PP 60 hardly requires any maintenance whereas the K 12 does. The whole criteria taken into consideration clearly show the superiority of the PP 60 compared with the K 12. Its advantages (speed, user friendliness, law maintenance, high cutting quality) outnumber its disadvantages (climbing tools needed, removal of the hydraulic facilities, limited cutting ability).
