The stability analysis of slopes implies an exact determination of the real conditions of the site with regard to the soil strength and pore-water pressure, respectively. Since the assumptions for exact stability analysis are usually missing, it is of interest to estimate the stability for well defined conditons. This is possible with the diagrams given in this paper. They take into consideration any groundwater conditions in the slip plane, which is assumed to run parallel to the surface of the slope. A comparison with published data of Schober/Hohensinn (1980) indicates the usefulness of the proposed model.
