The presented paper discusses the problem of evaluation of forest investment projects. The importance of forest welfare to society is emphasized and the costbenefit analysis which enables an appraisal of quantifiable and intangible costs and benefits is proposed for their estimation. A preferred combination of techniques and assumptions of cost-benefit analysis is explained and applied to the evaluation of forest road building projects.
