Abstract
The behaviour of Phomopsis quercina was studied by inoculation on to one-, three and five-year-old seedlings of Quercus cerris, Quercus robur, Quercus frainetto and Quercus pubescens. The trials were carried out in climatic chambers under two different regimes: 1. 14 hours of light (15000 lux)-10 hours of darkness; temperature: day 25Grad C - night 15Grad C; relative humidity: day 50% - night 80%; 2. same as above except for relative humidity: day 25% - night 40%. The highest indices of infection were recorded for 5-year-old Quercus robur and Qercus cerris seedlings under water stress, indicating that Phomopsis quercina profits from conditions of stress for the seedlings. When reforestation with oak species is to be carried out, the presence of Phomopsis quercina on the reforestation site is a factor that should be considered.
