Processing of beech leaf litter (June) by Glomeris marginata (Villers) (Diplopoda) resulted in a decrease in microbial biomass (SIR). Microorganisms in beech leaf litter are limited by C but had a high demand of N and P. Processing of the litter by G. marginata caused a strong increase in microbial N and P availability.
