  • Abstract
Graft incompatibility was studied in a black pine seed orchard including 52 clones and a total number of 2.634 grafts. The seed orchard has been established in 1978 in Koumani-Peloponesos. The losses by clone were recorded in ten successive years after the establishment (1978-1988). The results showed that: The total losses in the seed orchard were independent of the year followed the establishment and varied between years from 0.03% (first year) up to 1.43% (fourth year). The total losses in the orchard in the period of ten years were 8.27%, with standard deviation 12.53. The percentages of losses betwen clones were highly significant. In ten clones none tree was lost, while in the 6 most affected the losses ranged from 25.64% up to 55.88%. These 6 clones, which comprise the 11.5% of the total clones included in the seed orchard and whose losses are greater from two standard deviations of the total losses of all clones, are characterized as clones with severe problem of graft incompatibility.
