Silviculture in the forest district of Bovenden is specialized in the tending of mixed beech-noble-hardwood stands on sites dominated by limestone. The origin, development, and main features of the silvicultural strategies are elaborated. Due to the rich biodiversity in the forest district, nature conservation plays an important role both in taken it into account with all forest activities and in executing specific actions. The financial return was positive before the great windfalls in 1990 and has now recovered again.
