342 chromosome number counts of vascular plants out of 159 genera and 65 families collected in Austria (and 1 of Swiss origin) are given. All investigations were carried out on somatic material. The data are the results of a comprehensive karyological work on the flora of Austria which was done at the Institut of Botany and Botanical Garden of the University of Vienna by the autors in the course of the project "Ein Chromosomenatlas zur Flora von Oesterreich" during the last ten years. Initially it was planned to publish these chromosome numbers together with some further karyological features, but this purpose seems now, due to some personal alterations, impossible.
