Studies on the susceptibility of first and second generation Scots pine trees to heterobasidion annosum showed statistically significant differences between half-sib families of the two kinds of trees in seedling mortality and formation of mycorrhiza-like roots by them in response to infection. Lower mortality of seedlings was recorded in progenies of natural regeneration within disease centres.
