  • Abstract
The investigation on the decomposition of cellulose in forest soils were conducted in Legnica - Glogow Copper Region (LGOM) and in Upper Silesian Industrial Region (GOP - table 1), in areas embraced with permanent measurement of industrial air pollution (table 2). The decompositoin of cellulose in soils was examined in laboratory, one determined, after the incubation period, the quantity of not decomposed cellulose in soils samples mixed with cellulose powder. This method allows to determine the potential cellulolytic activity of soil microorganisms. The results of the studies showed that the activity of cellulose decomposition decreased together with the increase of environment pollution with heavy metals. A significant correlation between the decomposition of cellulose and the quantity of falling dusts and contained in them heavy metals was stated (tables 3 and 4) .
