In the years 1979-1985 investigations were conducted on changes in the density of Vaccinium myrtillus tillers and on the frequency of occurrence of the remaining plant species of the fertilized herb layer of the mixed oak- pine forest area. A favourable effect of NPK fertilizers was observed inforest clearing species (Rubus spp., Chamaenerion angustifolium) and in Oxalis acetosella, Stellaria longifolia, and the pteridophytes. Coniferous forest spe cies, among them Vaccinium myrtillus, after an initial drop in their abundance,were reinvigorated inthe interval between two successive treatments.
