In this review on the trace-element nutrition of plants, only copper, manganese, zinc and boron are considered. For each element, we discuss: sources and availability to plants, uptake and distribution within the plant. A summary of the biochemical roles of trace elements in plant metabolism is given in order to explain their consequences on growth and development. In the second part we discuss trace-element deficiency and toxicity in conifers.
