In the 19th century there was a methodical afforstation of agricultural land in the area of Gryfino (Forestry Commission of Szczecin). Between 1843 and 1878 stands with a high percentage of oaks or pure oaks stands were established. Today the large growing stock and the percentage of high quality assortments show that this afforestation was the right management. This should stimulate the idea of afforestation also the thousands of hectares of former agricultural land which is not farmed anymore. This helps creating a natural environment consciously.
