Abstract
In autochthon spruce stand of virgin forest type in Strma stran, Giant Mountains, part of management complex01 and 02, the dynamics of structural changes of spruce stands influenced by immissions has been studied. The analysis of the influence of immissions has been based on the comparison of biometric and classification parameters of the set of trees in 1976, when the influence of immissions has not been visible and in 1985, when the mentioned stand has been severely damaged. The result of analysis showed that the degree of crown defoliation is the relative unambiguous characteristic of the vitality of the tree. In natural conditions (immissionless) a strong cenotic differentiation of the stand in both vertical and horizontal direction exists. With growing influence of immissions, predominantly in extreme climatic years, the trees of middle and high dimension classes are successively dying. The decay of those (from the point of view of stand structure the most important) trees is the beginning of the progressive stage.
