The Turkish-German Forestry Project, besides its work domains as silviculture, forest management planning and social forestry, has focused as well on studies concerning training of forest woekers. Former and actual conditions of forest workers have been studied thoroughly. At the same time proposals have been submitted on how further training has to be accomplished and in what way employment of forest workers has to be carried out. Logging is carried out far away from settlements, mostly in mountainous areas. The workers suffer from all kinds of weather conditions. They need training, equipment and safety clothing. In employing forest workers having accomplished a special training the aim of reducing work accidents and occupational diseases to a minimum as well as an increase in the production will be realized. At the same time higher profits may be obtained from the field of forestry.
