Within a period of ten years (1988/98) the Turkish-German Forestry Project achieved substantial results in introducing contemporary silviculture and forest management planning methods to the Turkish western Black Sea region between Bolu and Sinop. In the middle of the project's term the combined techno-social approach had to be revised from more participation in forestry of the rural population to re-introducing training and extension for forest workers from village cooperatives. Continuing work in this field is strongly recommended.
