The authors, both professors at Istanbul Forestry Faculty, present some interesting figures regarding the present situation of the so-called forest villages and their population in Tuerkey. The reciprocal relations between these villages and the state forest administration, which in facts is the only owner of the forested land in the country, as well as the negative impact on the forests due to unsolved problems between the groups concerned are described. The authors call for a more broad approach to improve the situation and to save the forests from further damage.
