Abstract
A 1972 study showed that Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. (glauca) seedlings lifted in mid-November outgrew those lifted in early March. When the plots were remeasured in 1985, after 13 growing seasons on a south- facing granitic slope in central Idaho, the fall-lifted trees continue to grow faster than the spring-lifted seedlings.
