The following paper is a phytogeographic and phytosociologica study of the vegetation found on Monte Conero, central Adriatic coast. The uypes of vegetation identifield are compared with types found in other parts of the Adriatic basin. This comparison shows that from the view of phytogeography and vegetation science the Monte Conero is one of the most important sites of the Italien Adriatic coast: It is the northernmost point of thermomediterranean vegetation at the western Adriatic and an exclave of the area of some south mediterranean and also a few balcanic species.
