The paper tries to show the problems concerning the reality of forest management planning in the Fedral Republic of Germany. Forest economy in respect of multiple use needs management planning and controlling in respect of the local aims and priorities. The methods of forest inventory may be defined depending on the most interesting aspects: Quantity/parameters of structure. The problems of accuracy and interpretation are discussed. Forest inventory and planning should prepare help in case of desasters and other unexpected situations. There is a tendency of founding landscape-information on the data of forest enterprises. It will be necessary to create a protective convention in respect of data processing.
