At two study sites in the Tyrolean Limestone Alps wet, dry and occult deposition of Cd was measured from 10/1997 to 9/1998. At the study site in 920 m a.s.l. occult and dry deposition contribute in a minor way to the total deposition. At the study site in 1758 m, occult Cd depositions amounted up to 87 %. Therefore, the legal standard for Cd of the Schweize4rische Luftreinhalte-Verordnung (1985) was exceeded. As demonstrated within the Austrian Forest Soil Monitoring System, in various carbonate-influenced soils of Austria, the Cd limit value of the ÖNORM (2004) was exceeded.
