About 20,00 relevés of Austrian forest and scrub communities were captured using TURBOVEG. Data mostly came from the literature or were provided by colleagues, with only some additional relevés sampled in the field. In a first step, the data were split into subsets with a homogeneous tree layer and were then classified numerically. In some cases data from neighbouring countries were included in the classificiation. The results will be published as a book comprising synoptic tables and dichotomic determination keys for all associations. Deciduous oak forests are classified in the following alliances: Fraxino orni-Ostryion (with 1 association), Quercion pubescenti-petraeae (with 8 association), Quercion roboris (with 4 associations) and Carpinion (with 7 associations).
