This is an account of a six year study of the method of cone gathering during the fall introduced by Nordström (1950). The method involves the gathering of pine cones from climatically unfavourable parts of Norrland as early as in September, which, followed by as suitable form of storage, may result in a higher percentage of germinative seeds than would be obtainable from seed samples from winter harvested and unstored cones.
