The objective of this thesis was to develope a simple method for the calculation of earthwork volumes in the construction of forest road. The calculating result of earth to be cut and filled is very important to determine cost of construction, to provide information for bidding, to make a balance of cut and fill, etc. But there are some problems today. These are: - calculation formula of earthwork volumes - no consideration of correction of earthwork volumes to be cut and filled - standard cross section for calculating of earthwork volumes - inadequate earthwork volumes tables, which can be directly used. The present calculation formula (F1+F2) /2*L is only approximatly correct and gives always larger than the true volume. My proposed formula V = (Formel)/3*L, where V: Volume, F1: first area, F2: second area, L: length of two cross sections, gives exacter result. The volumes from humus material may be not calculated in the earth material, and swelling and shrinkage of soil should be considered. For that were two correction coefficients proposed, namely coefficient to cut Kc and to fill Kf. It was also made mass diagramms for humus with different depth. For making of earthwork volumes tables should be regarded the slope under and over the centre line as not the same. The tables for width of road 4, 4.5, 5 and 6m were made.
