Altitude Profile Zillertal/Tyrol, Austria : Ecosystem Research of the Federal Forest Station : First Europen Symposium on Terrestrial Ecosystems: Forests and Woodlands
At the "Altitude Profile Zillertal" (Fig. 1) interdisciplinary investigations were made since 1984 with a concentration on immission - ecological questions (Smidt & Herman 1991). The Federal Forest Station worked jointly with several Universities. This project was started because of the New Forest Decline symptoms over Europe and describes especially the forest condition, the applicability of biochemical and physiological methods to find out the stress situation of the forests as well as the variability of several parameters with increasing altitude.
