Changes in the Nutritional Status of Austrian Spruce Forests Between 1983 and 1990 : Nutrient Uptake and Cycling in Forest Ecosystems. Proceedings of a Symposium Held in Halmstad, Sweden 7-10 June 1993
Since 1983 data from needle analyses for the macro-nutrients N, P, K, Ca and Mg obtained from a dense sampling grid have provided information on the nutritional status of Norway spruce stands. Deficiency is mainly found with N and insufficent nutrition mainly found with N, P, Ca and Mg. Good N-supply is mostly restricted to the northern parts of Austria. Some nutrient contents and especially ratios of nutrients (e.g. N/P, N/Mg) indicated a distinct change between 1983 and 1990. Considerable differences in nutrient contents, nutrient ratios and in changes between regions were observed.
