Im Juni 2017 wurde Phyllosticta thujae auf Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd'(Smagragdthuje) zum ersten Mal in Öster­reich (Niederösterreich) nachgewiesen. Dies ist der zweite Fund für Europa.

In June 2017 the occurrence of the fungus, Phyllosticta thujae on Thuja occidentalis "Smaragd" (emerald green arborvitate) is first reported for Austria. This is the second record for Europe.
