Pinus pinea is an introduced species in the Northern part of the Mediterranean basin. Here this conifer can be affected by fungi like Brunchorstia pinea and Sphaeropsis sapinea causing respectively - shoot blight and cankers and death of cones. Damages by this parasitic fungi are shortly described.
