- AbstractMany applications require information on the availability of soil water to vegetation, for example as input for hydrological of biochemical models. Pedo-transfer fuctions are being developed to expand current knowledge regarding the unique properties of forest soils, particularly those with calcareous parent materials, which are characterised as being highly aggreted, shallow, with high organic matter and/or stone contents, and include organic layers. Pedo-transfer functions enable calculation of parameters that are difficult, costly of time consuming to measure directly.
