- AbstractModels for whole stem increment were constructed from both stem profile models and a biological hypothesis of the increment's vertical distribution on a tree stem. Both modeling approaches appear to provide reasonable results. The models based on Pressler's hypothesis provided better diameter increment estimates than the stem - profile - model - compatible increment models.
