- AbstractAfter researches about the reasons for avalanches out of stocked areas in the northern limestone-Alps, regeneration in the mixed stands is totally missed here and there. Under the cover of the beech there is an exclusive regeneration of spruce which is influenced strongly by outsides factors. One cannot talk of real continual regeneration dynamics of the stands. As the reasons for this have been shown the adverse stand development and the game population on the one hand and ecological factors on the other hand. The superannuated stand with its low number of stems favours in its terminal- and disintegration-phase the creeping and gliding of snow and small-scaled avalanches and slabs, which damage the upgrowing regeneration. The high game population allows only the spruce-trees to grow up, but beech-trees, common maple-trees and fir-trees and creeping debris are further factors which injure the sporadically appearing regeneration nucleus and hinder their development.
