- AbstractGermination of the uredospores of Melampsora larici-populina Klebahn was tested in the presence of different poplar leaf extracts on cellophane discs and on freshly plucked leaves. The results point to the possibility that de novo synthesized compounds have a restraining influence on the germination and growth of the uredospores in nature. Both tested poplar trees, P. nigra 'Italica' and Unal 8, own in their leaves certain factors, which are necessary for the germination. These facors however are different in both trees.
