Abstract
The paper deals with the relation between the damage class (according to the German inventory for forest die back) and the basal area growth with special consideration of the crown surface area. The crown surface area of the sample trees was derived from aerial photo measurements. With an analysis of coveriance differences in the mean basal area growth of Spruce could beshown for the four damage classes.
